  i have long held theory that the society can easily cease it's printing operations and increase it's profit margins.

  follow this scenario.... as we all know, the printed word and accompanying illustrations in the wt and awake can be converted to pdf format (pdf is a format that can be locked so that the recipient cannot change the contents) upon the completion of each individual magazine.

  it would therefore be very easy for the society to email or to put up on a server the wt and awake for retrieval by the presiding overseer of each congregation.

  Fianallysomepride and Jafo, No, I'm as disgusted with them as the next guy, no love here. But...I'm just trying to think ahead a little. It was just an exercise in "possibilities" for the cult. Everyone likes to speculate they might be doing, I was just taking a shot. With all of the pedophile issues (lawsuits), contributions lagging, etc... I was just pondering the course they might take in the future.

  Please don't get me wrong, I'm NOT trying to help them, just doing a forward thinking.

  Out at last, yes, now you're talking...take it slowly. Think of the impact, if only they reduced printed copies by 50%....huge savings. Those that can use technology could choose to do so, the others that don't, don't. You can bet on this though, if I've thought of it, they've thought of it. It's coming, I'll promise you that.

  They have to think of better and cheaper ways to distribute....it's a force that has to be reckoned with. Especially since wallets are getting tighter....

  As we all know, the printed word and accompanying illustrations in the WT and Awake can be converted to PDF format (PDF is a format that can be locked so that the recipient cannot change the contents) upon the completion of each individual magazine. It would therefore be very easy for the Society to email or to put up on a server the WT and Awake for retrieval by the presiding overseer of each congregation. Now...imagine the PO having just downloaded the WT to his desktop. He can now take that file via memory stick to a local Kinko's and have an unlimited number of Watchtower's and Awake printed, stapled and folded just like the ones from Brooklyn at the cost to the congregation...NOT the Society.

  Voila....no need for Society printing presses. Even the same can do done with all of the traditionally hard bound books, just print print them as needed and spiral bind them at the local congregation level. Print one or print up a thousand.
  Or, this can all be done at a circuit level. One group could be responsible for the Circuits printing needs and distributed on a local level.

  Now, the Society can still ask for more donations and totally remove the cost of printing, packaging, shipping (with their own trucks and paying for fuel-no more expensive Tractor Trailers to buy and maintain, with insurance). No more labor to print, assemble and bind the books and magazines. No more cost of food and housing to feed and house these workers. They could literally knock the whole operation at Brooklyn (which I understand is in the process of moving to Canada? If anyone can confirm) down to say...150 people? And even that number may be bloated.

  Now, figure this. My friend got a Kindle from Mrs. Claus (his wife) and low and behold, what do you think he found for reading material at Amazon.com? You guessed it, WTB&TS books and magazines....for sale. Yep, you can buy them right online. So, now, let's take this one step further.

  Let's suppose everyone in the congregation has a new Kindle. What if the latest WT study article was made available by download to everyone that had a Kindle...for a "contribution" price. With a Kindle, you can underline, just like a paper version of the WT. You can look up Scriptures by tapping on the screen where the scripture is cited as a reference.

  So you see, I think there is a change in the wind. Maybe not now, but it's coming, it has to. It costs too much to print and distribute when there is no need to. Just offload it to the congregations.

  What are your thoughts? Am I off base here? Is this a long shot, or could it be a reality in the near future. If they hadn't thought of it by now, I'm sure this post will get them somehow. Put yourselves in their shoes, how could you turn your back to this concept?

  Circuit Overseer said from platform ,if you have ever done something and not confessed to Elders...going to die!!

  just had lunch with a inactive jw friend of mine who is well on her way out.

  she said that when the she went to the kingdom hall the week of the circuit overseers visit, he said from the platform, that if anyone had done any wrong doing in the past, no matter how long ago, and had never come forward to tell the elders, then they would not make it into the new system, but would rather die at armegedon!!.

  i guess after that talk the elders were inindated and they began privately, and publically reproving, and removing ones!!

  Should a Christian see the movie "AVATAR"?

  i give the movie a 6.5 score.

  the scenery was wonderful, but the plot was not zipped up well.

  it sort of follows the story-line of "dances with wolves", but in space.. .

  Should a Christian see Avatar?

  (a) If you've got enough extra money for the movie, a drink and some popcorn, then NO. You should be handing it over to the Local Kingdom Hall / or Society as your "contribution"

  (b) If you've got the time to see the movie, then you're spiritually weak. You should rather be studying your WT and preparing for your weekly meetings. Or....you could be down at the local kingdom hall doing some vacuuming or something constructive with your time.

  So the answer is NO, NO, NO.

  hi all, - firstly a new alias, so i can use the gravatar function...- ill be using both for a while till this one kicks in.. .

  ok, so some of you know im dfd and my faded sister lives with me.. - today at about 1pm, the elder who dfd me turned up at my door.

  i was in bed - ive had a cold for three days and a hacking cough.. james came up and told me, and i said im not well, but my sense of motherliness kicked in and i thought, its not for my eleven year old son to deal with this.

  jehovahs day comes at this moment and u realize u were in the right place but because of leaving you are now doomed.

  lgadsden -YOU ARE SAVING THEM FROM WHAT AND LEADING TO WHAT? EVERYTHING IVE HEARD SO FAR AS THE REASON FOR LEAVING IS TO DO WHAT THE WANT LIFESTYLE WISE. AM I WRONG? JUST CURIOUS WHO DO YOU ALL PRAY TO NOW AND IN WHOSE NAME AND WHO ANSWERS ?

  (a) We cannot save, only the creator can. Salvation is a GIFT of which cannot be earned. When will JW's get this? This is something JW's forget....get a clue....YOU are not saving anyone, God will. And...it all leads to whatever Jehovah has in store. I was taught from birth that the earth would be restored to a paradise, however, give this some thought....Jesus NEVER once spoke of a paradise EARTH, only a Heavenly paradise. Not saying I know for sure either way, just reflecting on what is written in the Bible, not what someone's interpretation is. Whatever God has in store for us, I'm sure will be filled with Joy.

  (b) Lifestyle has NOTHING to do with it. My wife and I are just as morally sound as when we were in...maybe more so.

  (c) I still pray to Jehovah God through His son Christ Jesus....and yes, Jehovah STILL answers my prayers as before.

  The only thing different is we don't attend meetings...that's it! That's the only thing. You are no more righteous than anyone else, even though you may THINK you are.
